Industries: how you operate shapes the warehouse
A manufacturer, a fulfilment provider and an importer can sell exactly the same product and still run three completely different warehouses. One feeds a production line, one ships many small parcels a day for other companies, and one holds goods that have not yet been cleared through customs. The product is the same; the work is not.
That is why we start with how you operate. Pick the page that describes most of your volume. Then narrow it down by what you sell on the verticals pages, where the rules that come with your products are covered: batch and expiry, serial numbers, size and colour variants.
Every model below runs on one platform: BizBloqs warehouse management software and order management, with modules added where the operation needs them.
Making and moving goods
Manufacturing. Your warehouse supplies a production line and receives what comes off it. The Manufacturing module moves and picks materials for production, records consumption and receives finished goods and unused materials. It executes the production logistics; the planning stays in your ERP or planning software.
Warehousing. For businesses whose core activity is storing and moving goods, from receiving to dispatch. Locations, directed putaway, guided picking and replenishment are the daily work.
Automated warehouses. People and automated equipment working together: vertical lift modules, autonomous mobile robots, conveyors. BizBloqs decides and sends the tasks; the equipment's own controller drives the machine. Connected equipment runs through the MHE licence, from SME+.
Selling to consumers
E-commerce. Many small orders, a daily carrier cut-off and a steady flow of returns. Guided picking on the scanner, availability per sales channel and returns graded at the returns bench.
Fulfilment. For businesses that pick, pack and ship orders for webshops and brands. Several clients in one operation, a flow per client and billing information per client, through the 3PL module from SME+.
Omni-channel. A webshop, marketplaces, stores and trade customers drawing on one stock. Availability per channel, and from SME+ allocation across several sites and routing each order to the warehouse that should ship it.
Retail. Store replenishment and webshop orders served from one stock, with stores connected through POS integrations.
Selling to businesses
Wholesale. Business-to-business order flows, larger orders and pallets, and trading partners who expect electronic messages. EDI runs through the EDI module, with Transus as the exchange partner, and BizBloqs connects to Klipboard Wholesale.
3PL operations. For logistics service providers that control stock per client: stock per owner, billing information per client, and a client portal showing what you and BizBloqs decide to show.
Import and export. Goods crossing borders, often within a group of companies. The bonded warehouse module holds stock under customs supervision, the intercompany logistics module runs goods flows between your own legal entities, and scanner screens are available in six languages.
Not sure where you fit?
Many businesses combine models: an online seller that also supplies retailers, a wholesaler with a webshop, a manufacturer that stores for a sister company. That is normal, and it runs on one platform. Tell us how your work flows and we will show you the configuration: book a demo.
- What is the difference between an industry and a vertical on this site?
- An industry page describes how you operate: making goods, shipping parcels, storing for others, importing. A vertical page describes what you sell and the rules that come with it, such as batch and expiry for food or serial numbers for electronics. Many businesses fit one of each.
- My business fits more than one industry. Which page should I read?
- Start with the one that describes most of your volume. Many businesses combine models, for example an online seller that also supplies retailers, and BizBloqs runs those combinations on one platform.
- Do I need a different system for each industry?
- No. Every operating model runs on the same BizBloqs platform. What changes is the configuration, the level you choose and, from SME+, the modules you add, such as Manufacturing, 3PL or bonded warehouse.
